I started learning tarot around 3 years ago, and my experience growing in this practice has been one lovely ever-spiraling path. When I picked up my first tarot deck I was hungry to learn anything and everything I could about the cards all at once!! (at the cost of my sanity a bit there at times haha) So I did as many of do and went searching for anything with the word ‘tarot’ in it. Now, I have definitely built up a little library for myself.
While books on tarot are great resources, books on tarot may not be easily accessible, maybe there isn’t much wiggle room in the budget at the moment or maybe you’re a tarot reader in private still and can’t have ‘such’ books in your current living situation.
But just because books may not be available at the moment doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to get quality information on tarot!
I want to share some of my favorite online resources that I have used to learn tarot over the years. All the resources listed below are FREE and available online RIGHT NEOW! So get into it. May you find what it is you seek.
BTW, photos in the post are pretty pictures of New York in a way we don’t usually envision New York. I wanted to share a little snippet of how I perceive the magickal avenues of New York City 🙂
OKAY, Here’s the 7 FREE tarot resources for the beginner tarot reader! (and really any level):
1. Biddy Tarot Website
Biddy Tarot provides a wealth of resources to learn more about tarot. A resource she has available is tarot card meanings for all 78 cards! The descriptions are perfect for the reader who wants some tangible meanings and examples to understand the cards. She provides card meanings and descriptions that are highly applicable to real-life situations and I find her site a great place to begin building a basis of your tarot knowledge.
I encourage exploring her website to discover some other free and paid tarot resources, if you find yourself interested.
2. Kippi’s Kwest on Youtube
A great YouTube channel to check out! Kippi provides tarot information by immersing the viewer INTO the cards. Kippi’s entire channel is so artistic and you can tell the love he has for tarot. His stuff is so wholesome and I love the way he has made The Fool a recurring character throughout his channel! What a touch!

3. Learn Tarot Website
This website has been up longer than I think I’ve existed. Great website. I learned about it during the beginning stages of my tarot research. It’s still up and active and a rather valuable resource! The website also contains lessons and exercises you can engage with to create some structure around your tarot studies if that’s something you’re into.
4. Joe Montelone on Youtube
I love Joe’s YouTube channel so much! His entire channel provides a ton of information that comes from a knowledgeable and wise place. Joe posts full beginner and intermediate tarot classes that will leave you feeling like you just learned a good secret about tarot.

5. Benebell Wen Holistic Tarot Series
I could go on and on about Benebell Wen and to avoid doing so, here is a no nonsense sentence on this. Benebell provides an all encompassing series on her YouTube channel that I would recommend for every tarot reader to do or explore. It’s a total of 8 videos. Check it. (It’s a course that made to be a companion to her book Holistic Tarot, thought it’s still super valuable as a stand alone)
6. Labyrinthos Website
Great website that also provides tarot card meanings! I believe they also have an app you can download that provides tarot card meanings and log your tarot readings in. They offer digital readings buuut I have some mixed feelings about that, same goes for tarot.com. (something to elaborate further on in the future?)

7. Tarot.com Website
Another decent website that provides tarot card meanings. They provide quick information on the cards and elaborate further by providing meanings for the cards in love and career readings. This website, is elaborate and you can definitely have some fun there. I’m only speaking to their offerings of the card meanings that I appreciate.

Invoking Witchcraft Episodes 10 & 43
I love this podcast so so much and I hold them near and dear to my heart. It’s hosted by Britton Boyd and J. Allen Cross. Even though there are no more new episodes, what they have available is a great podcast for any witch wishing to learn more on the craft.
For the tarot reader: They have a few great episodes on tarot that are a fun listen and provide more opinions and thoughts around tarot! They’re available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. I list the two most relevant here, but they also have episodes around reading tarot professionally if you want to get a sneak peak into your future 😉
